What a beach house on ECR actually means
The East Coast Road runs south from Chennai to Mahabalipuram with the Bay of Bengal on one side of it. A villa on the beach side has the sea behind it and the road in front; a villa on the other side is a few minutes' walk further, across a road that is busy at weekends. It is the single difference that changes how a weekend feels, and it is the first thing the comparison table below tells you.
Beachside does not mean private beach. The shore along ECR is public, as all Indian beaches are. What it means is that you can walk out of the gate, cross sand rather than traffic, and be in the water in a couple of minutes — and that the pool you swim in afterwards belongs to your booking alone.
How far they are from Chennai
All of them are between a quarter of an hour and an hour from the Adyar signal, depending on which villa and — far more — on when you set off. The ECR is clear early on a weekday morning and slow on a Saturday afternoon; the same drive can take twice as long at the wrong hour. The times below are a range for that reason rather than a single figure nobody could keep to.

Which Truliv villas are actually on the beach?
Villa Aqua, Villa Cabana, Villa Laguna, Villa Macarena, Villa Nova and Villa Seraya — 6 of the eight. The beach side of the ECR means the sand is a walk rather than a drive across the road. The others are a few minutes further.
Is the beach private?
No. Every beach in India is public and ours are no exception. What is private is the villa and its swimming pool, which are yours alone for the length of your stay — the villa is never shared with another booking.
How much does a beach house on ECR cost for a night?
From ₹24,000 a night plus tax at Villa Macarena to ₹34,999 at Villa Nova, on a weekday. Fridays, Saturdays, long weekends and the days around Christmas and New Year cost more. The price for your own dates is on each villa's page.
Can we cook, or is food arranged?
Both. Every villa has a full kitchen you are welcome to use. If you would rather not, our team cooks at the villa: breakfast is ₹450 a head, breakfast and dinner ₹1,100, and all three meals ₹1,600. A barbecue setup is ₹3,500 and is the one most people ask for on a beach stay.
How many people can stay?
Eight in a four-bedroom villa and twelve in the six-bedroom one, comfortably. Both take more — up to four a bedroom — with an extra-guest charge above the comfortable number. Tell us the real headcount when you book rather than on arrival.
What time can we get in?
Check-in is from 3 PM and check-out is by 11 AM. Arriving the night before or staying through the evening can usually be arranged for a fee when the villa is free the day either side — worth asking while booking rather than on the day.
