Why a whole villa rather than rooms

A family of eight in a hotel is four rooms, four keys, a corridor and a buffet. A villa is one house: the children are in the pool where you can see them, the grandparents have a room on the ground floor, and nobody is negotiating with a front desk about an extra bed. The price is for the villa rather than per person, which is usually the point at which the sums start to favour it.

Every villa has a full kitchen. For a family travelling with a baby, or with anybody who eats a particular way, that is often the deciding fact — and if you would rather not cook, our team does, at ₹450 a head for breakfast and ₹1,600 for all three meals.

Children and the pool

Every pool here is private to the villa and none of them is lifeguarded. They are pools in private houses: children in them are your responsibility, exactly as they would be at a friend's house, and we would rather say that plainly than leave it to be discovered. Villa Cabana has a separate kids' play area as well as the pool.

Questions people ask about family villa ECR

Is the villa suitable for young children?

The villas are houses rather than resorts: the pool is private and not lifeguarded, and children in it are your responsibility as they would be at a friend's house. Villa Cabana has a separate kids' play area. There is free parking inside every property, so nothing is left on the road.

Can we cook for ourselves?

Yes — every villa has a full kitchen. Our team also cooks at the villa if you would rather: ₹450 a head for breakfast, ₹1,100 for breakfast and dinner, ₹1,600 for all three meals, ordered with the booking.

How many bedrooms do we get?

Four in seven of the villas and six in Villa Nova. The whole house is yours — there is no other booking in it.

Which villa suits a large family?

Villa Nova — 6 bedrooms, sleeping 12 comfortably and taking up to 24. It is at Sholinganallur, about 15 km from the Adyar signal, from ₹34,999 a night plus tax.

Are pets allowed?

No, at none of the eight. Worth knowing before you set off rather than at the gate.

How far is it from Chennai with children in the car?

The closest is Villa Seraya at Chennai, about 13 km from the Adyar signal — 20 to 30 minutes by road. The furthest is Villa Ivory at Kovalam, 31 km. The range is wide because the ECR is: the same drive takes twice as long on a Saturday afternoon as it does early on a weekday.
