What one day actually buys

Twenty hours, in practice: in at three in the afternoon, out at eleven the next morning. That is one evening, one night and one slow breakfast, which is what most one-day bookings are for — a birthday, a family that wants a pool for an afternoon, a group driving down from Chennai after work on a Friday.

The whole villa is let to one booking. There is no front desk, no other party by the pool and nobody else's booking in the next room, because there is no next room — the villa is a house and you have all of it.

What it costs for one night

The prices below are the lowest weekday rate for each villa, room only, before tax. A Friday or Saturday costs more, and so do long weekends and the days around Christmas and New Year, because that is when everybody wants them. A midweek night is the cheapest way to have one of these villas to yourself, and it is quieter besides.

Is the price per person or for the villa?

For the villa. The figure covers the whole house up to its comfortable occupancy — eight guests in a four-bedroom villa, twelve in the six-bedroom one — with an extra-guest charge above that.

Do you take a deposit?

Villa Seraya takes a ₹10,000 security deposit at check-in, returned at check-out if nothing is damaged. Nothing is held at the others.

Is booking direct cheaper than the travel sites?
